For delegates arriving from outside the UK here are a few tips:

Newcastle International airport is only a short train ride from Newcastle city centre where the ARENA 2006 conference will take place. Newcastle airport is served by a number of European carriers including several low-cost airlines. There are currently daily direct flights from destinations including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Copehagen, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Hanover, Milan, Nice, Oslo, Paris, Prague and Rome. Newcastle also serves one intercontinental destination namely Toronto,Canada.

Travellers from outside Europe have a number of options. The first is to route directly to Newcastle through a European hub such as Amsterdam (KLM), London (British Airways) or Paris (Air France). Alternatively Manchester Airport is a 3 hour train ride away and has direct flights to a number of long-haul destinations. Links to relevant web sites:

Travel between Newcastle airport and the city centre is best done using the Type and Wear Metro system. Note that the closest station to the ARENA 2006 conference venue at the University of Northumbria is Haymarket (approximately 5-10 minutes walk). The journey time between Haymarket and Newcastle airport is 23 minutes.
