BCM

SBN Young Pub Quiz

On Tuesday evening everybody is invited to a quiz organised by SBN Young which will take place at Nottingham House, there are prizes!

Key timings:

• Please arrive by 7pm and pay at the bar.
• Pies will be served at 7:30pm.
• The Quiz will start at 8:30pm.
• We will probably finish around 9:30pm.

We have preordered the pies you chose via the registration form. Some of us will probably go directly there from the end of the meeting, so don’t be afraid to go early, and the more the merrier so bring your plus ones!

Important note: the cost of pies is not included in the registration fee.

STEEL visit

We have a small dual-phase TPC in the Hicks Building which we’d be happy to show you. There will be two opportunities in groups of 10:

1. Tuesday lunchtime
2. Thursday lunchtime

The tours will be led by Harry Scott and will take around 30 minutes. A signup sheet will be outside the main meeting room from Monday afternoon. Given the limited availability it will have to be first come first serve, if you have already seen the TPC please consider leaving slots open for others.

Trip to Museum

We will have a group visit to Kelham Island Museum on the Wednesday afternoon at 5pm. This will include a drink on arrival and a guided tour. Plus-ones are welcome but please let us know if you plan to bring someone. Getting there will be a little ad-hoc so keep an ear out at the meeting and on the Slack channels for plans nearer the time.

Social Dinner

We will have a collaboration dinner at 19:30 on Thursday evening at Browns Brasserie & Bar Sheffield. This should have been paid for as part of your registration and pre-orders have been taken too. Thanks for getting those in.

Peak District Walk

We will be leading a couple of walks in the Peak District on Saturday the 7th, leaving Sheffield around 10 am and heading to Hope by public transport. Anyone is welcome, there are two options to cater for varying abilities! The walks will be no longer than 3 hours and should have you back in Sheffield by 3pm (if you don’t stay for a pub lunch) or 5pm if you stay for the pub.

Routes

Short/flat route : 8km (130m ascent) along the river from Hathersage (remember to get off the train!!) to Hope.

Longer/hilly route : 11 km (360m ascent) circular walk over Win Hill from Hope.

Trains

Leave Sheffield on the 10:14 train, trains back from Hope at XX:39. Please arrive at the station at 10am. Link to Northern booking website for an off-peak day return.

Pub

Expect to arrive at around 2pm for late lunch. We will try a few pubs around Hope and see who can accommodate all of us.

Bad weather

We will keep an eye on the weather and adapt our plans accordingly. One option is that we can all do the shorter walk.
